Keynote speakers

Prof. Dr. Maaike Endedijk

At the University of Twente (Netherlands), Maaike Endedijk is a Professor in Professional Learning and Technology and the head of the section Educational Sciences. She is a teacher in the program Educational Science & Technology, and project leader of several research projects on learning communities, workplace learning and on the transition from higher education to the technical labor market. Her main expertise is in self-directed professional learning at the workplace, with a focus on the technology and health sector. She develops and evaluates tools and interventions to support workplace learning, be it through micro-interventions in a mobile-app or setting up learning communities. In addition, she collaborates with partners from the industry and non-profit organizations to develop new modalities for lifelong learning to help employees and organizations to drive and respond to digital transformation. Maaike Endedijk was a SIG 14 coordinator from 2015-2019.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans Gruber

Hans Gruber is a Full Professor for Educational Science at the University of Regensburg (Germany) since 1998. At the University of Turku (Finland) he is a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Education since 2013 and a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Education since 2015. From 2018 onwards, Hans Gruber is a Member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Education, Weingarten (Germany) and currently also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Educational Research Review. Looking at his work for the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), Hans Gruber was its President from 2015 – 2017 and belongs to the founding chair of the Special Interest Group “Learning and Professional Development” (jointly with Els Boshuizen). He is also co-founder of the Special interest Group “Online Measures of Learning Processes”. His main research topics are Professional Learning, Expertise, Workplace Learning, Social Network Analysis, and Higher Education.

Prof. Dr. Victoria Marsick

Victoria J. Marsick is Professor of Adult Learning & Leadership at Columbia University, Teachers College where she directs academic programs in Adult Learning and Leadership. She holds a Ph.D. in Adult Education from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.P.A. in International Public Administration from Syracuse University. She worked extensively in Asia and other countries with not-for-profit organizations, and directed staff development and training at UNICEF, prior to joining the Teachers College faculty. Victoria has worked with organizations to design, develop and implement informal learning and leadership interventions. Victoria’s research examines naturally occurring, informal learning at work—including informal learning in complex, nonroutine settings; team and organizational learning; action learning; and transformative learning. Her current research examines applications of informal and incidental learning in interprofessional healthcare teams in the medical clinical environment during Covid-19. She has been inducted into the Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame, and has received the 2018 HRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award from the Academy of HRD.
